Does it go against the beliefs of Christianity to read up on horoscopes?

Question by Breezy ♥: Does it go against the beliefs of Christianity to read up on horoscopes?
I believe that my future is determined by God, not by my date of birth. Lately, one of my good Christian friends has been completely rapped up on her zodiac sign. I don’t know if it’s good or bad for her.

No but I say its a load of codswallop, shame on her for falling for it. What do they teach in sunday school these days ?

Forget the Christian part of the question.

Anybody who reads their horoscope is an idiot.

Consider two people. One person reads his horoscope for the day and it says that “life is great and you will make a million dollars today”. The other person, born on the same day in the same year, dies of cancer right after reading the same horoscope.

Yes it does.

Very inadvisable.

Well, it’s always in my paper in a Christian dominated Nation, it’s been in there a long time, and most people realize it’s fake and just for the fun of it. Most people don’t take it serious or as something bad, but if you’re afraid or it doesn’t appeal to you then skip it. Your friend has to make her own choices.

It’s not like people read those things and try to do it. It’s very rare that it ever coincides.

Question by preetstah: Do specific birthdates make a difference in your horoscope sign?
Does the date of your birthday give you slight tweeks to your sign? For example, if your birthday is on Dec 31st and you are a Capricorn do you have the same general traits as every other capricorn?

Yes they do. Even your exact TIME of birth gives you different personality traits.

This is because astrology is actually really complex – way more complex than the horoscopes you read in the paper. You don’t just have one main sign (also called a Sun Sign), you have tons of other signs too: Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and so on. The placements of these planets in your birthchart are dependant upon your date, time, and place of birth, and they all influence your personality in different ways.

If you’re interested in knowing a bit more about your whole birth chart beyond just your sun sign, then go to www.astro.com or any other free natal chart creator, enter your details, and do some reading on the different planets and signs.

Have fun.

I believe horoscopes are misleading and essentially any divination or prophecy you receive that does not come from God, through God or because of GOd… is not going to benefit you in the long term… though it may seem beneficial at the time…

some people care more about pleasure than health or well being…

You should inform her that the basis behind Horoscopes is in an archaic Babylonian religion, which is generally frowned upon by Christianity.

That and horoscopes are extremely idiotic.

In the Bible, it is forbidden to seek an “observer of times”, which is an archaic term for one who writes horoscopes.

Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deu 18:12 For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD:
